Autumn is made in a day

For a while I've been wondering at what point the true European autumn would begin. That time when the leaves turn a browny gold and are swept off their branches by the dozen on each new gust of wind. I commented to my friends Dennis and Silvia on only Sunday that there seemed to be as yet no natural signs of autumns begin. Today however the temperature has sunken beneath the 15 – 20ºC levels of the past week to an overcast and chilly 10ºC accompanied by a brusque wind, which all of a sudden appears to be blowing leaves from their trees and onto the streets and footpaths. Just like that! So it all happens in one day? Apparently so, as yesterday it was not so, and today golden leaves are noticeably assembling on the ground after each gust of wind! So there it is, autumn is made in a day.
